Knowledge truly gained is what they absorb after correcting themselves. While observing students in class, we occasionally see parents anxiously accompanying them. When a student gets stuck, the parent immediately explains in Chinese or stands by with a dictionary. This causes students to develop a dependent mindset, expecting parental help whenever they encounter something they don’t understand or cannot do. This approach is not conducive to cultivating children’s independent and proactive learning ability.

2. Let Professional Teachers Teach; Start from a Young Age

Chinese people say, “Let another teach your child”—leave professional matters to the experts. Many of our parents are returnees from abroad or highly educated, with master’s or doctoral degrees, yet they do not teach their children English themselves because they worry their English may not be authentic and could lead the child’s English sense astray. Parents should lead by example in educating their children. Instead of pushing children into a good learning state and potentially creating conflict, it is better for parents to set an example by developing good habits of reading and studying at home. 4. Interest is the Best Teacher

In learning subject-based English, to achieve a better learning state, we hope parents can cooperate by reminding students to preview lessons beforehand and review them afterward. Additionally, increase opportunities for extracurricular exposure to original English learning materials, such as original English movies, English books, or, if possible, increase chances to communicate with foreigners in English.
